The Archive of IIT Madras collects the personal papers of alumni (students, faculty and staff) who have had a significant relationship with IIT Madras and whose records have historical value (Photographs, letters, magazines, etc.)
Upon receipt of the donated materials, an Acceptance of Gift form will be signed by the donor and the Archive, transferring ownership and legal rights from the donor to the Archive of IIT Madras.

Being an institutional Archive, we collect academic and administrative records of the institute. However, we are also collecting personal papers from individuals who were associated with the institute or is in possession of some records relevant to the institute.
Apart from serving the administrative purposes of the institute, the Archive intends to serve the academic community of the institute as well as around the world. We also aim to create awareness about the history of IIT Madras as well as the field of archives in general to the larger public.
